Real estate web app

Having created Simon + Jackson Properties branding, they reached out to me to create a web app that allowed their customers to search their inventory of available properties, make maintainance requests, sign lease agreements, and pay rent.

The challenge

Simon + Jackson needed a website that educated their potential customers on the available listings in the area, allowed the user to search by location using a map with a backend portal to make payments, sign documents and issue maintenance requests all while defining their branding.

Story mapping

The story mapping session was a live exercise that I performed with the owners of Simon + Jackson as well as two of their current tenants to understand the wants and needs of the customer. From this, we discovered the scope of the project so I could accurately create a timeline and quote accordingly.

After I ran the story mapping session, I began work on hand-drawn wireframes with input from the clients. The wireframes were used as a rough blueprint for a figma prototype.

The entire application was mocked and prototyped in Figma, and went through multiple rounds of revisions based on client feedback. Additionally, the images and content of the prototype were used to help speed up the development process. The design took a very clean and modern approach to mirror the contemporary design of their portfolio of properties and to attract young college age students.

Web Development

The site was developed used Bootstrap 4, Scss, Php on a wordpress CMS with a portal for the residents and the property manager. OpenLayers map API was used to create a dynamic location based search and Stripe was used as the payment processor for rent payments.

With the growing catelog of Simon + Jackson, the website was the perfect addition to help them to manage properties easier and provided them with ease of mind when issuing monthly rent statements.
